John Sanner

John Sanner

Ambassador, Advisor, Co-teacher RYT 500

I am a retired electrical engineer, trained in science and technology. Over the past few years, I have become fascinated with the 5000-year-old science of yoga, and it has changed my life for the better. Yoga has helped me become stronger, more flexible, and more peaceful. Yoga can benefit any person, of any age and there are styles of yoga to fit almost anyone’s needs. Thanks to my wife who has over two decades of yoga experience, I finally got turned onto yoga at age 67. Once I started, I actively sought out as many different yoga styles and teachers as I possibly could. Sometimes I was taking six yoga classes a week. Each of my teachers added to my yoga experience and at last count, the number of teachers I had practiced with was about 47. Many urged me to get certified to teach so after some searching, I graduated from Yoga Quest University.

I am truly fortunate that yoga is fully accessible to me but it isn’t so for everyone around the world. Sadly, in parts of the world where the guiding principles of yoga are needed the most that accessibility is the least. Donate Yoga is addressing that issue one life at a time. I felt honored to be part of the brainstorming team that fleshed out the concepts that this fine organization represents. I have and will continue to support Donate Yoga.
